1/35 German SD.Kfz.247 Ausf.A Armored Command Car
ITEM NO: BOM 35095
SCALE: 1:35
ANNOUNCED ON: 12/6/2016
EST ARRIVAL: February 2017

Sd.Kfz.247Ausf.A GERMAN ARMORED COMMAND CAR
In 1936 the German army issued a requirement for a command and personnel car. As
a result Krupp manufactured the Sd.Kfz 247 Ausf A using their 6×4 Protze truck chassis
in 1937. It used a 65bhp Krupp 4-cylinder air cooled petrol engine which gave a top speed
of 70 km/h. Armour was from 6-8mm, enough to protect against small arms fire and shell
splinters. Combat loaded it weighed 5.1 tons and had a road range of 350 kilometers. The
Sd.Kfz 247 Ausf A was designed as a command car for use by the Commanders of motor
cycle reconnaissance battalions. It was not issued with a radio as standard equipment and
carried no fixed armament. Only 10 of the Ausf A model were built and these served in the early years of WWII, a few surviving until 1945. A smaller Sd.Kfz 247 Ausf B was built by
Daimler-Benz using a 4×4 heavy car chassis, 58 were built 1941-42.

1/72 DFS230B-1 Light Assault Glider
ITEM NO: BOM GB7008
SCALE: 1:72
ANNOUNCED ON: 12/6/2016
EST ARRIVAL: February 2017

In 1936, the German military put forward the idea of the direct use of a glider to transport combat troops, and then put forward the concept of an "assault glider". Deutsche Forschungsanstalt für Segelflug (DFS) in 1937 successfully developed three prototypes. The military immediately procured a volume (military project code DFS-230), and it became the Luftwaffe standard light assault glider, the first type, DFS-230A. The glider used a high wing monoplane design with a hybrid support structure and a rectangular steel tube fuselage structure that was low cost and easy to produce. The aircraft could accommodate 8 heavily armed soldiers and 2 pilots. It could also be towed by a variety of Luftwaffe aircraft, as on take-off it left the take-off gear and used a center-line skid under the fuselage for landing. The improved B, based on the DFS-230A, was equipped with an umbrella for deceleration in the air. It was used as an enemy avoidance tactic device. The Type B-1 aircraft could have an MG-15 machine gun installed in the back of the cockpit for self-defense or ground defense. Some B types had field modifications at the end of the aircraft with infantry using the MG-34 machine guns to further strengthen firepower. DFS230-B type final output was 1020 units. DFS-230 opened successfully on the May 10, 1940 raid of Belgian Fort Eben Emael. It also had participated in the battle of Crete, and a number of other airborne operations. After the fall of the German airborne troops, DFS-230 appeared mostly as a transport plane. Until the end of the war, the German army still retained some of the aircraft.

Bulgaria, Hungary and Slovakia received more than one hundred. They were used in the wars of the three countries and the war against the Soviet Union. The Romanian army purchased 126 improved design of the Vz35 LT tank, and changed its name to R-2. Dragon May 2017 kits

1/35 M67 Flamethrower Tank
ITEM NO: DRA 3584
EAN-13 BARCODE: 0089195835840
SCALE: 1:35
ANNOUNCED ON: 2/28/2017
EST ARRIVAL: May 2017

Building further on the success of its line-up of 1/35 scale kits of the famous M48 Patton medium tank, Dragon has produced the interesting M67 flamethrower used by the US military. Nicknamed the “Zippo”, it was originally based on an M48A1 tank hull, with the usual 90mm gun replaced with an M6 flame gun connected to an M7A1-6 fuel and pressure unit. The 48-ton M67 was disguised somewhat with its flame gun hidden inside a dummy gun tube. The first M67 was completed in 1955 and a total of 109 units were manufactured for US Marine Corps and US Army service. They were fielded until 1974, which meant they saw combat in Vietnam.

This 1/35 scale kit inherits excellent features of Dragon’s preceding M48-series models, but it has been modified to represent an M67 Flamethrower Tank. This includes brand new components such as the gun shield, dummy gun barrel and muzzle brake. Also new is the flame projector inside the muzzle brake. The mantlet cover is represented by DS to replicate the correct look of the material. Other appropriate changes are made – for example, the headlight brush guards were altered to clear the flame gun’s lower depression angle. This is a magnificent kit of the M67, and it’s expected to be red hot with modelers all over the world!

New announcement – # 6860-1/35 StuG.III Ausf.A MICHAEL WITTMANN, ‘LAH’ (BARBAROSSA 1941)

Michael Wittmann was the most legendary panzer commander of WWII. Dragon has previously issued a 1/35 scale kit of his Tiger I tank, as well as an associated figure set of his crew. Now Dragon has turned its attention to the early part of Wittmann’s career, where he cut his teeth commanding a StuG.III Ausf.A during Operation Barbarossa on the Eastern Front in 1941. At that time he fought with the elite LAH Division. The Ausf.A was the first variant of the Stug.III family, with just 30 vehicles manufactured by Alkett from January-May 1940. The type mounted a short-barreled 7.5cm StuK 37 L/24 gun.

We have previously introduced high-quality kits of the StuG.III Ausf.C/D and the Ausf.E, so this kit of the Ausf.A is a welcome addition to the infantry support/tank destroyer family. Not only does it allow modelers to build a stunning Ausf.A, but it permits Michael Wittmann’s own vehicle from 1941 to be accurately depicted. This kit is superbly detailed, featuring a brand new upper hull and superstructure roof. There are also two new storage boxes on the rear. To top it all off, the kit will contain appropriate Cartograf decals depicting Wittmann’s vehicle.

New announcement – # 3579-1/35 IDF M3 Halftrack Nord SS-11 Anti-Tank Missile Carrier

Dragon, in its Six-Day War series, has already produced a 1/35 scale kit of an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) version of an M3 halftrack, and now another interesting variant is available for modelers. The new kit features an M3 boasting Nord Aviation SS.11 wire-guided antitank guided missiles (ATGM), which was done to beef up the offensive capability of IDF halftracks. The SS.11 missile was steered to a line-of-sight target by the operator via thrust vectoring control. The 30kg missile had a maximum range of 3,000m. Associated modifications to the halftrack included fitting an armored roof, a full-width launch rail in the mid-section, and storage boxes in the rear for spare missiles.

Dragon’s recently released M3 halftrack has been suitably modified to create this 1/35 scale Israeli M3 antitank missile carrier. The most obvious difference is the bank of four SS.11 ATGMs mounted atop the vehicle. The fighting compartment has been modified to incorporate a firewall between the cab and rear compartment, and two large storage boxes are installed in the rear. A roof hatch can be depicted open or closed. There is also a plentiful supply of photo-etched parts in the kit to portray metal components and tool brackets. As part of Dragon’s growing Six-Day War collection, this is a tremendous-looking vehicle that takes the M3 halftrack to new and lethal places!

Four-cannon Spitfire MK.VIII

Cooking with Eduard Ingredients: Aussie Eight 1/72 kit, Cat. No. 2119 – 1pc Overtrees Cat. No. 70122X – 1pc A teaspoon of skill A full cup of determination Cut the main gun bay cover (the one with one large bulge) off the Spitfire F Mk.IX upper wing. This part can be found on the 70120 G sprue. Remove the main gun bay cover from the Spitfire Mk.VIII upper wing. Take the cover with the large bulge, insert into the hole and glue together. Repeat on the other wing and let the glue harden. In the meantime, the lower halves of the wings should be prepared for action. Create a hole for spent cartridges on the lower halves of the Spitfire Mk.VIII wings. The hole should be placed here (see the Pic 5). Carefully cut the spent cartridge hole rim, reduce the plastic thickness in this area, and place over the newly opened hole in the Spitfire Mk.VIII wing. Repeat on the second wing. Now glue all the wing parts together. The gun barrels can now be installed. Use parts No. 10 – two from Aussie Eight and two from Overtrees. Outer gun barrels have to be shortened. The wings are now complete, so serve with decals for Clive Caldwell´s personal mount, camo scheme No.1. Spitfire Mk.VIII can be topped with products from our Brassin range, such as exhaust stacks, wheels etc. Note: The same recipe can be used to cook a 1/48 Spitfire as well. Enjoy the Spitfire

I'M ON IT /JÁ NA TOM MAKÁM: MiG-21MF 1/72
The 1/72 MiG-21MF is proceeding to the production stage. Design of the MF versions is almost over, and the model is approaching the stage of technological preparation that is required for production. Our intention is to go through all production stages as quickly as possible and have the model ready before the end of this year. The design is based on our 1/48 model from 2011, but is significantly modified and adapted to 1/72 scale. It includes some minor shape adjustments, but also the decision to release the kit in two versions. The first version covers the gray machines used by the Air Defence regiments, and the second one will cover the frontline air force machines. The model is designed to be easy to construct.
