Is a car only a mode of transport? For some, it’s not. Strap yourself into the seat with the safety harness in the narrow cabin, grip the steering wheel and drive through the corner, listening to the roar of the engine and feeling the undulations of the road surface as the tires squeal at the limit of their grip. Your heart beat and adrenaline rising sharply, it is obvious that this is not simply for transport. When the Ford GT40 crossed the finish line as victor in the 1966 Le Mans 24 Hours race, it achieved a legendary status. Over fifty years later this automotive masterpiece continues to influence and inspire.
